SAN DIEGO, July 6, 2011 –GenerateHope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing safe-housing and long-term recovery for victims of sex trafficking and exploitation, will host Black and White Event, Girl Interrupted, a music and art show that will benefit survivors of human trafficking. The event will take place Saturday August 13, 2011 from 8 pm to 11 pm at a loft in downtown San Diego at 953 S. 16th Street. Tickets are $20 and all proceeds will benefit GenerateHope. The event will include live music, local artists, desserts, beverages, silent art auction, giveaways up to $1,000, guest DJ and more.

Human trafficking is the world’s largest criminal enterprise, after drugs and weapons. The FBI has identified San Diego as one of the top 13 cities in our nation for child prostitution.  In fact, many of the victims of sex-trafficking in San Diego are not foreign women. They are American women who are subjected to violence and denied basic human rights.

About GenerateHope

GenerateHope provides a comprehensive and uniquely designed long-term recovery program for young women who have been trafficked, prostituted, or otherwise sexually exploited.

The GenerateHope program provides dedicated housing and recovery, including continued education, job training, life-skills training, individual and group therapy, recreational activities and other support services. Since recovery from sexual exploitation is a long-term process, GenerateHope provides up to seven years of support to work through past trauma. This allows women the ability to live independently and become a positive influence on their communities and future generations.
